COMMON QUERIES
WHY CHOOSE BODY BELIEVE?
I can relate to you. As a mother of 4 children, having recovered from major surgeries and finding myself in perimenopause, my life experiences mean I know, I understand. Life is not about perfection, it is about doing things to help us feel good and from that we can progress. The focus at Body Believe is all about bringing movement into women's lives, that is safe and right for you. The focus is all about discovering how much better you can feel when you do this. We do not focus on how much weight you think you should lose, or counting the number of calories you are eating or punishing our bodies to "get in shape for the summer". Your personally designed sessions are held in a lovely space which is just for you, no interruptions or anyone else around to intimidate you. If you are feeling a bit low, or very tired (maybe you are pregnant), then we'll modify your session accordingly - Body Believe is all about flexibility and compassion. You will be listened to, you will be supported.
WHAT WILL A SESSION BE LIKE?
To start with, you will have an initial free consultation, for which you will have completed a client information form, giving me lots of information about you, to help me understand you and your lifestyle. We will spend quite a bit of time going through this together. You will also complete a form to check whether any medical referral is necessary before starting any movement programme. We will also do some fitness assessments to make sure I understand where you are at, so that we start you off at the right level.
Your first session will be spent learning the movements and getting comfortable with the programme that I have specifically designed for you. This often takes longer than an hour, so please allow time for this (there is no extra charge).
After that, each session should take an hour, we'll check in on what's been going on for you since we last met before we warm up and then work through movement programme and at the end, importantly, cool you down. Your session may involve using dumbbells, stability balls, resistance bands, the treadmill, cross trainer or simply your bodyweight.
WHERE WILL THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Body Believe has a beautiful equipped private gym, where the space is for you, just you. You will enjoy the benefit of hassle free parking and a feeling of getting away from it all in a peaceful rural setting.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
A bottle of water! If you have your own exercise mat, then it is recommended that you bring that with you. You may also wish to bring a small towel.
Please do not wear your trainers, but bring them with you to change in to, and please ensure they are clean!
WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?
Wear something that is comfortable for you to move in and that you can move freely in, but nothing too baggy or flappy otherwise it will just get in the way! Wear layers, so that once you have warmed up, you can take a layer off. You can choose whether you would like to wear trainers or not but it is recommended to wear trainers if you are using the cardiovascular machines as part of your programme.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Body Believe has a strict cancellation policy which you will be given as part of the terms and conditions at your initial consultation. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required when cancelling a session to avoid being charged for a full session. You are entitled to a one-time cancellation with less than 24 hours notice without incurring charges.
WHAT DOES A PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION COST?
The initial consultation is free. After that, each session is £40 and takes about an hour. You have the option to buy a block of 10 sessions at a discounted rate for £350. Single sessions are paid for in advance and at the time of booking. Block sessions are paid for in full in advance but the sessions do not have to all be booked in advance, but must be used within 3 months of payment. Payments are to be made by BACS.
HOW MANY SESSIONS A WEEK DO I NEED?
This is entirely up to you, there is no pressure from Body Believe. If it's just once a week to begin with, then that's a great start but you might feel you would like to come more than that. It might depend on how much support you would like to start off with, how confident you feel doing some aspects of the programme on your own and in the space you have at home. You might feel you need more than one session a week. Over time, you may find that you don't need to come as often. It's an evolving process!
AM I FIT ENOUGH?
The simple answer is YES!
It does not matter what your level of fitness is. Providing you have completed the necessary medical questionnaires and any referrals have given you clearance to start a fitness programme, then we are good to go! We will go through some fitness assessments as part of your initial consultation to make sure that your movement plan starts you off at the right level. Even if you have never put a pair of trainers on and you are pregnant, you can still start a movement plan to prepare your body for the changes ahead of you. Body Believe will make sure that it is safe and appropriate for you.
IS MY INFORMATION CONFIDENTIAL?
Another simple answer - YES!
Unless, of course, I need to refer you to another healthcare professional for something which is beyond my scope of practice. If this is necessary, your consent will be required in order for me to refer you. All your information is securely stored and only accessible to Body Believe. You will also be given a copy of our privacy policy when you start with Body Believe.
ARE YOU AVAILABLE ALL YEAR ROUND?
All my children are at school and family time is very important to me, so generally my face to face sessions are available during term time only. During school holidays (and half terms), I will be giving you mini movement plans (at no extra cost to you) that you can work on during this time, that are appropriate for your home space and tailored depending on whether you have any of your own equipment or not. I will always be available to chat to or message if you need me during school breaks.
I'M PREGNANT BUT I HAVEN'T DONE ANY FITNESS - CAN I STILL START A MOVEMENT PLAN?
Providing you have been given clearance by a medical professional and completed the necessary medical screening forms, then yes, you can start a movement plan! Your plan will be designed specifically for you. It will ensure that it is completely safe, starting at a very low intensity and focussing on what is right for you and your baby depending on the trimester.
