A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
My name is Sara Hales and I am a qualified Personal Trainer. I'm 48 years old, married, with 4 children, the youngest being 5 and my eldest being 13, so life is pretty busy!
I have come to realise that life isn't all about how you look on the outside, it's about how you feel on the inside, both emotionally and physically and the two are totally intertwined. One rarely functions well without the other also functioning well. My own personal journey in discovering this important internal relationship with ourselves, led me to want to work with women to help them discover this for themselves.

My love of fitness has always been there. But for many years, lets just say it fell to the back burner. Life after university (which feels about 100 years ago now!) threw me into the corporate world in London and beyond before I chose to get out of the rat race and enjoy a very different life in Cornwall back in 2006. Family life began in 2010 and before I knew it, I found myself to be a very busy full time Mum. Me and my husband Danny, are very lucky to now have 4 beautiful, amazing and energetic children. I have had 4 caesareans since 2010, my youngest daughter was born in 2018. I have a neurological condition called Chiari Malformation for which I had cranial surgery in 2015 to relieve the symptoms and I had a brain haemorrhage in 2016 from which I have fully recovered. Perimenopause is knocking on the door and I'm finding my own path along this new stage in my life, recognising that each day can bring a different set of emotions and energy levels.
It was only after my third caesarean that it dawned on me that I wanted to feel better about myself, I had got myself into a bit of a rut. I was also suffering really badly from the symptoms of Chiari Malformation which would leave me with horrendous headaches, dizziness and fatigue. I wanted to be able to feel strong again, I wanted to feel good on the inside, even when yet another sleepless night with my baby meant I was exhausted. I needed something to keep me going, for me. And that was all about changing my perspective on the importance of my health and well being. And so my journey began.
Having surgery for Chiari Malformation was another learning experience of dealing with recovery, quite different from recovering from a caesarean section. I had to learn a different level of patience and compassion for my own body's capability, realising that set backs are not the end of the world, they are just taking me on a diversion for a moment - even if that is because of a brain haemorrhage! This is an ongoing journey, which has been slow, steady and progressive and along the way we had our fourth baby. I have made movement and exercise an integral part of my life and have given it the importance that it deserves to make sure that I am functioning as well as I can be for my own well being but also my family. I feel strong again, I feel good on the inside and I do something that is for me.
So what I am saying is that I understand the challenges that physical, health related and emotional factors bring to us as women. These factors can be at any stage of a woman's life, but particularly during pregnancy, after having a baby and on into perimenopause. I get it. And that is why I felt the time had come for me to help women who also want to bring changes to their life, to improve their ability to move, their well being and if needs be, their body confidence and need someone to help them. So I decided I needed to get the necessary qualifications so that I could do just that. I am a qualified and accredited Personal Trainer and have specialised in Pre and Post Natal Exercise, Women's Fitness and Mental Health Awareness. Furthermore I have completed the Menopause Movement professional training programme and am a member of their network.
